Local Weather
The weather in Southwest Missouri is very Different from any place I have ever been, and I have been all over the globe.
- January is usualy very cold with temps reaching Zero Deg F. A lot of snow is possible with accumulations reaching 11"-12" in one snowfall. Jan. and Feb. are our coldest months.
- Feb. is a lot like Jan. But the nights are usualy a little warmer.
- March is when things get hectic. The days reach to the mid 50's F. ,but the nights well below freezing. Snow and Ice along with heavy hard frosts at night possible.
- April is my favorite month, we get plenty of rain with severe storms possible especialy in the evening when the sun gets things stired-up. Tornadoes are very likely thru July. April is when the gardens and the wildlife realy become active. The Lilacs, Dogwoosd, Fruit trees, And the Easter lillies are showing full color. Spring turkey season starts.
- May is a lot like April except things start to heat up. We can have days is the 90's thru Aug. Ample rains keep the crops alive, well, and growing.
- June The harvest begins, get the canning jars found, test seals for pressure canners!!! The weather now gets even hotter with the nights reaching the 70's F.
- July is My wife & my birthdays. Weather is now getting rough as the rain quits us and the drought begins. Water what you need and let the rest go, save your well water for the Animals, Corn, Tomatoes, and Green Beans.
- August is by far our hottest and driest month. The drought continues into Sept.
- The days reach records of 105+ and heat indexes reaching 120+ and the humidity is around 82%+ The nighst stay into the mid 80s F.
- September The nights start cooling but the days are rough. Archery season for deer and turkey begins.
- October Frost is likely and snow has been known to hit this early. Get all your outside chores done now.
- November and December can be cold at night and mild durin the day.
